Lost

Its not another post about “lost in cyber world” or no connection to internet or me being lost in general . I mentioned in one of my previous posts that we are fans of some sitcoms. We added a new one to our favorites list.

Lost is an American serial drama television series. It follows the lives of plane crash survivors on a mysterious tropical island, after a commercial passenger jet flying between Sydney, Australia and Los Angeles, United States crashes somewhere in the South Pacific. Each episode typically features a primary storyline on the island as well as a secondary storyline from another point in a character’s life.

The series started around September, 04, but we only started to watch it a month back. The whole craziness started from the 3 LOST cds from NetFlix. After that we didn’t have patience to wait for the other cds to come. So thanks to ABC.com for having all the episodes uploaded in HD quality. We used to stay up late night (even upto 4 am) watching back to back episodes.  Season 5 just started yesterday, so if there is anyone interested in watching the series; visit www.hulu.com or www.abc.com for the episodes you’ve missed.

Connected to the cyberworld

Just like any other work day, after replying to the urgent emails & work, I clicked on Firefox to check gmail.  It gave me the “page load” error. I thought it was probably an internet connection issue. But I noticed that all the company.org sites, email & sametime chat were working fine. I got shocked thinking what if they blocked all the other sites :O.  I tried yahoo, cnn, IBM  etc etc etc. None of them worked.. I had a similar experience in one of my previous work place where they blocked all the sites. Life was kinda horrible during that 8 hrs I spend in the office since there was no connection to the outside world. lol … In order to feel better I told my coworker V

Me: hey V I think they blocked all the sites other the .org ones
V: [shocked face] 
 reallyyyyyy???? Let me check.
(checking…..) www. google.com”
(relived face) its working fine…
Me: [shocked face]
:O really… I think its just me then…

I’m in the office (not connected through vpn) however I can’t access any other than kp.org sites
T: What sites are trying to access?
Me: [oh shoot... why did I even ask him :(    ]

I was trying to access “some ibm support site”.com
T: there seems to be an issue with internet at the moment
The connection to the internet is “broken” somehow and I’m sure they are on it
Me: Thx.

Well Im much relieved, it’s not just me … I kept trying to connect every 30 minutes or so… After a 3 hr wait… It connected to google J. Hurrayyy !!!

I guess most of you will feel the same way if they block sites (mail, orkut, wordpress, blogspot…) at work… or is it just me ??

 

Wedding Gift

After a 6 hr flight from east coast, I’m back to my home. I felt the trip was very short and 5 days just went in a snap…

It has been 11 months and 15 days since I got married. But yesterday one of my close friend Nands gave me a beautiful wedding gift. I knew she bought this around 1 yr back (b4 my wedding itself) but we never got a chance to meet up before I left to India . She waited this 1 yr for me to get back to east coast so that she could give it to me in person (how sweet…).

Its the Waterford Bride and Groom, a solid crystal with elegance and grace. The brides dress appears as is she is in motion.

I just loved the gift …
